Pulp & Paper Thermal Spray Coatings

Pulp and paper equipment must handle shredded wood, corrosive solvents, and abrasive chemicals. Machinery used in the pulp and paper-making industry must withstand a wide range of operational hazards, including heat, corrosion, cavitation, and erosion.  Astro Alloys Inc. produces high-quality, long-lasting thermal spray coatings that effectively and efficiently protect and preserve your pulp and paper equipment from these harsh elements and demanding conditions.

Thermal spray coatings for pulp and paper equipment enhance the material properties of parts to help resist wear and tear, prevent corrosion and rusting, and improve overall endurance and performance. Durable and reliable pulp & paper thermal spray coatings also prolong the life of automotive parts, which decreases downtime for repairs and maintenance, saves you money, and increases productivity.

Coatings For The Pulp & Paper Industry

For the pulp and paper industries, chromium carbide, tungsten carbide, aluminum oxide, and ceramic thermal spray coatings are especially effective to combat corrosion, prevent wear and tear and extend the service life of parts used to manufacture and process paper and paper products.

Chromium Carbide Powders

Chromium carbide powders provide a dense, well-bonded, resilient coating well suited to handle fretting and abrasive wear. These coatings withstand high temperatures – up to 1500 degrees – and resist corrosion and oxidation.

Tungsten Carbide Powders

Astro Alloys offers Praxair tungsten carbide thermal spray powders, known for their hardness and wear resistance. Tungsten carbide thermal spray powder creates a dense, hard, and tough coating. Applying a tungsten carbide thermal spray powder creates a dense, hard, and tough coating that is well suited for rolls, steel mill rolls, paper mill rolls, bearing journals, guides.

APT Carbide Powders

Advanced Powder Technology (APT) coatings offer chemical homogeneity, a balance of wear and corrosion, and improved deposit efficiency.  APT carbide powders are commonly used as a hard chrome plating alternative for bearings, seals, and paper mill rolls.

Aluminum Oxide Powders

Aluminum oxide powder is a gray fused aluminum oxide powder containing about 3% titania. When sprayed, alumina oxide powders produce a hard, dense coating that offers wear resistance and dielectric strength that is suitable in aerospace, printing, automotive, and chemical industries. Aluminum oxide coatings are dense, hard, wear-resistant coatings with electrical insulating properties. In addition to providing a smooth finish and being wear-resistant, Alumina thermal spray powders have excellent dielectric strength and thermal shock resistance.

Ceramic Powders

Astro Alloys offers a wide variety of powder coatings for automotive parts including advanced ceramic spray powders that range from low-thermal conductivity thermal barrier coating (TBC) powders to high-purity aluminum and yttrium coatings.
